About Us

Why Network 39 exists

Wi-Fi should just work. Yet most of us have stood in a hallway waving a phone around, trying to find one bar of signal, or wondered why the smart bulbs keep falling off the network. The advice online tends to come from two extremes: marketing pages trying to sell you a router, or forums full of jargon written by and for IT professionals.

Network 39 sits in the middle. It's for people who want a fast, reliable connection in every room without needing a networking certification to get there.

Who runs it

Network 39 is run by Network 39. The site started after one too many evenings spent troubleshooting dropped connections, confusing router settings and smart home gadgets that refused to cooperate. Rather than keep those answers in a notes app, Network 39 decided to write them up properly, in plain English, for anyone else dealing with the same headaches.

There's no network engineering degree behind this site, just a lot of hands-on testing, a fair few mistakes along the way, and a genuine interest in making home tech less frustrating.

Who it's for

This site is written for everyday households, not server rooms. That includes:

  • People whose Wi-Fi is slow, patchy or drops out in certain rooms
  • Anyone trying to choose between a new router and a mesh system
  • Households adding smart speakers, cameras or plugs and wanting them to actually stay connected
  • People who want their home network to be reasonably secure without a computer science background

If you've ever searched "why is my Wi-Fi so slow" or "best mesh router for a terraced house", you're exactly who this site is written for.

How articles are researched

Every guide on Network 39 starts with a real problem, usually one Network 39 has run into personally or heard from readers. From there, research draws on manufacturer documentation, hands-on testing with routers and smart devices, and a healthy dose of trial and error in an actual home rather than a lab.

We avoid inventing specifications, prices or test results. Where something varies by model, provider or country, we say so rather than guessing. If a recommendation turns out to be wrong or a product changes, we'd rather correct it than leave outdated advice online.

Keeping things current

Home networking moves fast. Routers get firmware updates, standards change, and today's "best mesh system" is tomorrow's "fine, but there's something better now". Articles are reviewed regularly and updated when something meaningfully changes, not just for the sake of it.
